We started out loving THE BIG DOOR PRIZE, and things quickly took a turn for the worst. Here’s our season breakdown.
E1-E3 😊
“THE BIG DOOR PRIZE plays like a comedic version of LOST, aka it has THE GOOD PLACE vibes, but it’s nowhere near as good.“
– Aaron
“Holy “father” in heaven, THE BIG DOOR episode just lived up to its potential. It did this smoothly with several celebratory “dance” moments and one significant character having an opportunity to flap their wings.“
– Aaron
E5 TRINA 😊
“It shouldn’t be a spoiler to mention that Trina, the titular character of E5, is the daughter of Chris O’Doud’s Dusty and Gabrielle Dennis’s Cass. Played to perfection by up & coming actress Djouliet Amara, the story didn’t quite serve the character as well as it should have.“
– Jami
E6 BEAU 😊
“THE BIG DOOR PRIZE does not feel like anyone is in the winner’s circle. The story is far too foggy. I am unsure I even care what my blue card would say, but I would never waste my quarters. Life is too short. Just ask Colton.“
– Esta
“THE BIG DOOR PRIZE is a show about being stuck in a rut in life and possibly getting a second chance to live up to new potential. The rut is relatable. The safe choices we make in life are relatable. Right now, the show itself is stuck in a rut, and if it doesn’t turn around, I can’t imagine I’ll continue it into another season.”
– Jami
E8 IZZY 🤮
“At this stage in the game, THE BIG DOOR PRIZE is a “glorified backup dancer” to the much better content available to stream on Apple TV+.“
– Aaron
“THE BIG DOOR PRIZE wants everyone to “face their fears.” Michelle Obama says precisely the same thing in her second book, THE LIGHT WE CARRY. Only she writes much better, more to the point, and with fabulous stories.“
– Esta
“Usually, I would go into a passionate rant about why this show didn’t stick the landing. But this show isn’t worth it. I wasted five hours of my life watching the first season. If I were to pull a Morpho card, it would say:“
