GOAT scratches that itch for any NBA fan to have a film they can show their kids about basketball. I had the pleasure of showing my 4-year-old, and afterward we went to a basketball court at SkyZone (a trampoline-style facility), where he tried shooting in public for the first time. For that reason, the film had me crying “goat tears” and deserves a thumbs up.
There’s nothing special in GOAT. It has the standard themes that parents relate to, but go over kids’ heads. If you dream big, play as a team, and believe in yourself, you can achieve great things. Even with those simplistic themes, the animation style and voice acting are top-notch, making the film an instant replay in terms of watchability.
Final Thought: GOAT isn’t “nothing but net,” but it’s a solid bank shot that is sure to have families entertained at home… this summer.
