WANDA SYKES: LEGACY is another comedy special featuring the irascible, unforgiving, well-known stand-up comedian. She is hilarious with her pointed zingers and observations of the political scene, aging, and relationships. Her humor and sarcasm are sharp as each joke hits a bullseye for every punchline. Sykes has no fear at telling it like it. “Fu** that shit.”
My only nit with this hour-long gig is that the first half of her political material is a little dated. Things are happening and going down so fast in our nation’s capital that Sykes is riffing on events from a few months ago. It feels like old news at times. Perhaps this show should have been released sooner, or it should not have made jokes about so many specific “current” events. This is sad when a comic’s material is out of date that quickly. Perhaps this could be the theme of Sykes’ next performance.
WANDA SYKES: LEGACY is another enjoyable comedy special, especially if you are a fan. It is awesome to see her back on the stage.
