NOCTURNE S1E1-E2

NOCTURNE is a fascinating, psychological crime mystery thriller. The story is creepy and perplexing. Every scene feels palpable, oozing dark, tense possibilities into a strange, unsolved kidnapping along with the weird disappearance of countless others. It is based upon a series of novels by Lars Kepler. The author’s name is a pseudonym for a husband-and-wife writing team. The novels follow Joona Linna and the murders he investigates in Sweden. There are ten so far.

Liev Schreiber, a brilliant, consummate actor, portrays the renamed Jonah Lynn and brings his stellar acting skills to developing this very complex character. It is like watching a master craftsman at work whenever he appears on screen. Zazie Beetz plays Saga, and believe me, she can hold our undivided attention as well. Add in Stephen Graham as Jurek, and I can actually feel all the hairs on the back of my neck rise up to greet every goose pimple popping across my body. It is truly a horrifying, bloodcurdling story, but make no mistake…this journey is a slow burn, creating very specific details and moments to ponder.

NOCTURNE is addicting simply because I want to know the how and why of the entire sordid tale. I am quite hooked on this ten-week episodic series. I hope some of you will join me.

NOCTURNE is streaming on Apple TV.
