YOU PEOPLE 🤮

YOU PEOPLE could not decide if it was a romantic comedy or a film on the current social conditions of our society. If it had made that choice, it might have been worth my almost two hours invested in watching.

YOU PEOPLE was filmed with strong comedians and actors. The talent was off the chart. It included Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, Julia Louise-Dreyfus, Lauren London, David Duchovny, Nia Long, Elliot Gould, Rhea Perlman, and Mike Epps. How could this film fail? Easy…it all boils down to the writers and why they kept hammering at us and not simply letting the story unfold. Viewers must care about the characters created. YOU PEOPLE did not allow that to happen. I needed more of the young love shown without so many awkward breaks, silences, and glaring steadfast looks between the families. It is 2023, and audiences need to see the authentic pockets of truth and not what Hollywood thinks we should believe. There were just too many over-generalizations about race, culture, and religion.

YOU PEOPLE disappointed me. GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER did it so much better. It is available to stream on Netflix.
