SILO S3

I loved every moment reading the SILO sci-fi book series by Hugh Howey. They were exciting, intense, and made me dream of a future I would not want to survive. I so looked forward to watching the pages come to life on screen. I have been so disappointed, especially after watching season three’s story unfold. I can honestly say that if you are a fan of the novels, you will be greatly frustrated and let down. I know I was. My husband gave up long ago, and he is a bigger sci-fi geek than I am. The only saving grace of this season was the finale episode. Parts of it were pure Howey creativity, and it gave me hope for what’s to come. I say this with trepidation. Graham Yost, the creator, please don’t make me regret my optimism.

SILO isn’t a bad series. It just isn’t what fans expected, and that is why I believe there is a huge discrepancy with the Rotten Tomatoes scores. I can’t cite the actors or the interesting SILO set. It is all okay, but wow…what it could have been boggles the brain. Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette was awesome, but it took most of the season for her to find her old backbone and gumption. It was sad being led off course. I felt the same way about Bernard, played by Tim Robbins. All I can say about his journey is WTF. Perhaps I am just not the reviewer who should be offering my two cents. I am very in favor of the book series. It took a great deal of fortitude to get through season three.

SILO is a conundrum for me. I want to say I loved it, but I definitely didn’t. I want to say I liked it, but I can’t. Will I tune in for season four? I’d give that a probably maybe. I am such an optimist, especially after witnessing parts of the finale.
