TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS is a gem among all the current situation dramas being offered. It is based on Cheryl Strayed’s Best-Selling Dear Sugar Collection—an advice column like no other. Cheryl is also the author of the New York Best Selling book, WILD. She is a featured author in Reese Witherspoon’s Book Club, and Reese is Executive Producer for both WILD and now TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS.
I cannot say enough about the quality of the acting. Kathryn Hahn (WANDAVISION) portrays the current adult, Clare. The places she dares to go while encompassing this character are mind-boggling. The breadth and scope of her talent are phenomenal. She can bring audiences to the depths of despair and then back to pure joy in mere seconds. I laughed, wept, and shook my head in disbelief over Clare’s painful journey through grief and love.
I also am in awe of the actresses (Sarah Pidgeon and Marlow Barkley) who played Clare at different stages of her life. They, as well, brought me to my knees with emotional highs and lows. Rae (Tanzyn Crawford) was Clare’s incredible teenage, angst-ridden daughter. Breathtaking performances. So raw…
The writers included several of Sugar’s profound, honest advice throughout the series as needed.
- You can’t mourn the life you never chose or knew.
- When given a gift, just say thank you.
- Your worst thing that happens to you can’t be what defines you.
- There are many reasons to stay. But only one reason to leave.
TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS is a stunning portrait of a woman lost within the stories of her life. Kudos to the writers and the entire ensemble who had the guts to tell it like it is. This must-see series TV for the performances and, in the end, the love. “So hit the iron bell while you can.” Thank you.
TINY BEAUTIFUL THINGS is available to stream on HULU.
