TURNING POINT: GENERATION 9/11 offered a different perspective of the tragedies and horror of 9/11 and how it affects our country even still today. This documentary shed a light on how much of the turmoil and divisiveness was created the moment those planes hit their targets in New York, DC, and Pennsylvania. This insightful viewpoint was presented in honor of the 25th anniversary. I am not sure I agree with everything said, but it is well-produced using numerous clips and interviews from those who survived or were directly touched ny it’s aftermath. It is a sobering 97 minutes.
The key to this documentary was two-fold. First, there sas the domino effect of how every that happened was built upon previous seconds of destruction, miscommunication, and eventual hatred from both sides. Once the planes were in the air headed towards their destination, there was no turning back. These were brutal facts to come to terms with. The second key to this story is realizing 25 years has come and gone. There has been a whole new generation born who weren’t even around when the Twin Towers tumbled to the ground. This event has become more like a history lesson from the past rather than something millions of people lived through and experienced. This has created a huge emotional divide to be sure.
TURNING POINT: GENERATION 9/11 reflects an interesting point of view. The film made me think and remember. It is hard to believe a quarter of a century has passed so quickly. We all owe a moment of thoughtful silence in remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11th and throughout the transformative decades that followed. It is streaming on Netflix.
