Favorite Ted quote this week: “I like my water like Kylie Irving likes his earth. Flat.”
Despite Manchester City “re-apply lipliner” during their big match, this show focused more on what happens off the field. From Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) figuring out what she wants to do with her secret admirer, Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) getting his haircut, the doc (Sarah Niles) needing help from Ted, and most importantly, Jamie’s (Phil Dunster) big moments with his dad. After last week’s minimal plot, this week moved things forward at a rapid pace.
I had two favorite moments in MAN CITY:
- The relationship between Ted and the doc has fully blossomed. Both of them use humor or intelligence to deflect having to show emotion, and that tactic goes head-to-head in a heartwarming way.
- Jamie learned that he couldn’t love his dad for who he is nor forgive him for who he wasn’t. It was a challenging moment, but it explains why Jamie is the shaved eyebrowed tough guy that he is.
After tonight’s mental health/therapy theme, I’m unsure where TED LASSO is heading next. However, sign me up for another appointment on the couch next Friday.
