Just when I think SURFACE can’t get any slower, it blows my mind and crawls to the end. I want to be positive, and say good things, but I just can’t.

SURFACE is a really “SLOW” burn. This week was no different. The amount of info we learned to propel the story forward was minuscule and a touch interesting. So far, though, I just don’t have empathy for any of the characters. I know everything will probably twist around and make the “bad” guys good and the “good” guys bad. But here‘s my dilemma… I must care. So far, the writers have not given the viewers enough to break that empathetic barrier.

SURFACE, at the moment, is a chore to get through. The only good thing I can think of is how absolutely stunning Sophie (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) is on the screen. She deserves more and better.

SURFACE is available to stream on APPLE TV+.
