I’m having a hard time “moving forward” and deciding what to give the latest episode of SHRINKING. On the one hand, Paul’s (Harrison Ford) plot and interactions with Gaby (Jessica Williams) were hilarious and heartfelt. But on the other hand, Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) and Sean’s (Luke Tennie) plots had poor execution but were necessary for next week’s season finale. In other words, they were the “working class dicks.”
When SHRINKING works, it’s as refreshing as a meaningful therapy session. But when it doesn’t, you can’t wait for the clock to hit the hour so that your “time is up.” So if it sounds like I’m being a bit nitpicky, it’s because I am. It’s like LAST OF US this season, where SHRINKING has been so consistently good that when it’s only okay, it’s hard not to notice.
You don’t have to know what a “Goo Goo Doll” is to โค๏ธ SHRINKING. And I’m looking forward to one last therapy session next week on Apple TV+.
