SCHMIGADOON! is leading audiences down a dark, delightful path. Reliving the somber musical numbers of the 1960-70s era is not an easy jaunt. Be careful of coming up against “justice cleaver” and the depths of hell in HADESTOWN. Can I get a “nude attitude” adjustment?

Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) finds himself in an alternative universe surrounded by members of GODSPELL, HAIR, and PIPPIN company. A “turn on…tune in…dropout” mentality to be sure, but sadly they are only “the lamb without a flock.”

Melissa (Cecily Strong) is on a mission to “follow the clue.” But alas, children were everywhere, as Miss Hannigan/Mrs. Lovett pointed out. The courtroom scene was a perfect ending to a swinging routine complete with “TITS AND ASS,” or aka BELLS AND WHISTLES—a fun, outlandish, over-the-top firework moments.

It was wonderful to see Alan Cumming, Patrick Page, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jane Krakowski. All I can say is, “More, please.”

SCHMIGADOON! will be taking its cue from the concept of looking for someone to love. I have already “burned my bra” in anticipation. Let the downward spiral begin. I can’t wait.

SCHMIGADOON! is available to stream on Apple TV+.
