OFFICE ROMANCE is a funny, very predictable rom-com that critics are blasting as silly and not worthy of your time or attention. I am not following this critical crowd. It is a charming story with moments of outrageous comedy dialogue and boasts two of my favorite actors Jennifer Lopez (uh,come on, everyone knows JLo) and Brett Goldstein (TED LASSO). As an added plus, Goldstein was also one of the two writers and was a producer. The pacing is fast and the tone is fresh with razor-sharpe edges. It is what most people who love this genre want to see all the time.
There are several outstanding, hilarious scenes in OFFICE ROMANCE. I could not stop giggling out loud. I donโt want to spoil it for anyone, but I will never forget the stages of grief or childbirth with such explosive, vivid pictures in my brain. This is because of the extremely talented Betty Gilpin (GLOW, WIDOWโS BAY). This actress stole every scene she was in, and it was all for the good. She will have viewers eating out of the palm of her hand, laughing and chortling. She was over-the-top and totally awesome.ย
The chemistry between Goldstein and Lopez was palatable. They were simply adorable together, โnot falling from the sky.โ And holy cow, can I please mention how hot and perfect Lopez looks, whether it is an evening gown, an office ensemble, or an itty-bitty string bikini (Lopez is 56 in real lifeโฆ unbelievable the shape she is in). And the supporting cast is strong as well, sporting Edward James Olmos, Bradley Whitford, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, and Will Sasso. It all clicked with ease as these zany characters came to life.ย
OFFICE ROMANCE is exactly what the title says. Nothing more. Nothing less. No big expectations that cancer will be cured or peace will prevail all over the world. It is just a fun romp through office shenanigans. Be sure to watch while the credits roll.
It is streaming on Netflix.
