INVINCIBLE is what happens when you blend the style of 90’s Saturday morning cartoons, THE BOYS violence, and RICK AND MORTY zaniness. How else can I say anything other than this show is bloody amazing!
Just when audiences thought they didn’t need another superhero to root for comes the perfect genre addition from WALKING DEAD creator, Robert Kirkman. Not only is it a relevant diverse all-star cast, but it also comes at a time when it’s needed the most.
INVINCIBLE wisely focuses on the new superhero, Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun). His story revolves around discovering he has inherited superpowers from his dad Nolan (J.K. Simmons). It’s the classic tropes for a show involving anyone with a cape. Yet what makes this show soar is Mark’s relatable coming-of-age story, as he figures out how to balance dating and being INVINCIBLE.
For how simple the plot is, the scenarios these characters find themselves in are bonkers. From rapid aging aliens that portal gun to Earth, random attacks on Mount Rushmore, and bizarre fights while holding your breath on the moon – this show has it all in gloriously violent action sequences. This is NOT kid’s stuff. It’s for adults that long for the days of grown-up animation minus the safe Marvel PG-13 branding.
