IMPERFECT WOMEN premiered the first three episodes of an intriguing story about friendship, lies, love, lust, deceit, secrets, and murder. Sounds like a tall order, but all of these topics are thoroughly entwined within each plot line and character arc.
Based upon the book by Araminto Hall, this limited series boasts a phenomenal cast including Kerry Washington, Elizabeth Moss, Kate Mara, and Leslie Odom Jr. They act their hearts and souls out in every scene. It is incredible to watch their timing and emotional breakdowns. Odom plays a juicy, reactive man. He is fun to watch. He steals the spotlight without meaning to.ย
The writers have created a twisted tale of discovering what lies in wait between the cracks of lifeโs failures, regrets, and passions. Those intersecting cracks matter, and they are featured each time a new episode begins as the opening credits roll. They are the gut punches that hold the power to implode IMPERFECT WOMEN or help them rise again and again.ย โHave more than you show. Say less than you know.โ
Critics have given IMPERFECT WOMEN a low rating. I canโt do that yet. I need to see it through to the end. The only phrase I can think to say when asked about this show is, โItโs okay.โ Take that to mean whatever you believe it to mean, because that is all I’ve got so far. No one or thing is perfect.ย
