The Good News: Carlos (Frankie Rodriguez) sings “In a Heartbeat” to Seb (Joe Serafini) in the first Disney LGBTQ ballad, and it soars. Also, the leading man, Ricky (Joshua Bassett), takes a back seat and does an equitable job propping up Carlos to swoon over his man, Seb.
The Bad News: The rest of the episode (outside of EJ and Gina’s “will they or won’t they”) is meh. The characters have nothing to do outside of being stuck dealing with minor reveals that shouldn’t matter, yet it’s the main plot focus.
The Results: “Thank you, bro” for a significant musical number.
