HIGH DESERT S1E1-3 😊

HIGH DESERT can be described in two words…ludicrous and outrageous. Of course, I can add a few more, like drug-induced, over-the-top, and a hustler’s dream plot. It is not meant for those who play it safe.

Patricia Arquette plays Peggy Newman, a woman with a very questionable past. She lives on the edge, trying to squeeze every ounce of a con into her normal jargon. The life of a private investigator seems to be her next calling. She talks fast, manipulates, and can negotiate for anything she wants. She is funny, high, and can’t be trusted to tell the truth. Hang on to your seat…it is an extremely bumpy ride.

The ensemble compliments Patricia’s talents, including Matt Dillion, Brad Garrett, and Bernadette Peters. Ben Stiller is one of the many Executive Producers, along with Jay Roach (TRUMBO and BOMBSHELL) as director. The story is zany and changes quickly. Thank goodness it is only a thirty-minute show.

HIGH DESERT is still a question mark for me. Only three episodes have premiered, so the jury is still out. I am entertained and interested when I watch, so I will make this journey with a character who should never get behind the wheel and see where it takes me.

It is available to stream on APPLE tv+.
