The previous episode had EVERY LITTLE THING going for it and the latest episode is one step away from THE BLEEDING EDGE. This week should’ve started with “Houston, we have a problem” to at least warn audiences of the space junk they were about to endure.
The episode deals with Gordo (Michael Dorman) repeatedly getting drunk and making bad choices and Molly Cobb (Sonya Walger) denying that the solar flares had any affect on her health. This would be compelling for 15 minutes, yet audiences will have to pilot nearly an hour of two overused TV tropes. The former hero mopes around as a fat divorced drunk as the tough character can’t admit they’ve damaged their health. These are two important plot points that will no doubt play into the upcoming space story, but it does not warrant the amount of screentime.
As Gordo plays Atari’s classic game ASTEROIDS, I couldn’t help but think that my time would’ve been better spent doing the exact same.
It’s on Apple TV Plus, but it can be left floating adrift in space.
