A BEAUTIFUL LIFE features the strong and sensitive voice of Christopher Nissen as Elliott. He is a lost fisherman who sings his way into everyone’s heart. The film is Danish, and the speaking voices we hear are dubbed.
The reason to watch this movie is the honest, poignant musical numbers. They are genuinely touching and enable viewers to see and feel the angst Elliott is facing to come to terms with his life. He must let go of his past to move forward. This is the story of almost everyone’s journey in a nutshell. There is nothing new, but Elliott is handsome and easy on the eyes. It makes it all entertaining and a hot, romantic love story.
Audiences rated A BEAUTIFUL LIFE extremely high on Rotten Tomatoes. (much more than the critics) It makes me wonder if two different films were being reviewed. I had no expectations as I watched, and that made me enjoy the simple moments. Predictable? Yes, but whimsical and hopeful as well. This makes me smile, especially when I can stare into Christopher’s baby blues.
