ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST S2 REVIEW 😊

Aaron and Esta from SpoilerFreeReviews watched and sang along to every episode of ZOEY this past season. Here are their takes on season 2.

Overall Season Grade / Thoughts:

Esta: I am betwixt and between. I want to give it a 🤩 for so many fabulous songs and dance numbers, but for how long it took to make sense of the storyline and where it was going, I have to give it a 😊.

Aaron: I agree, Mom. The song and dance numbers almost elevate season 2 to “must-watch TV” status, but the storyline repeats nearly almost ALL of the same themes as season 1 and has so much filler. In other words, ZOEY’S is an amazing musical full of magic in search of a worthy TV show to support it. 😊

Favorite Episode:

Aaron: I wanted to say ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY RECKONING because of how it shows racial issues in tech, but I have to go with ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY MYSTERY. The show tries something different mixing up Zoey’s powers allowing for a fun LAW & ORDER inspired spoof. It also has the best song of the season with Max’s rendition of Demi Lovato’s ANYONE.

Esta: It has to be the finale, ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY GOODBYE. The entire episode tied up so many of the loose plot lines from the season, and it put to rest who Zoey really wants to be with on the romantic side. We got to see her dad again, Zoey actually sang and danced and it ended with a cliffhanger. Who could ask for anything more?

Least Favorite Episode:

Esta: ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY TRIP – Doing drugs and hanging with a much younger guy did not suit Zoey for me. I ended up not caring at all.

Aaron: Agree, that TRIP was a low point. The subplot with the next-door young love should’ve been cut completely from season 2. However, ZOEY’S EXTRAORDINARY EMPLOYEE was so bad I almost gave up on the series.

Favorite Song and Dance Number:

Aaron: Two favorite songs this season and yes, they both will break your heart:
ANYONE by Skylar Astin. I mentioned it above as well, but this is the best moment in season 2.
UNWELL by David St. Louis. The one-shot dance sequence as this man wrestles with love and his beliefs will leave you feeling breathless.
Esta: I have two favorite songs this season. The first one is Max singing ANYONE. So much emotion and angst. I wanted to reach across the screen and hug him. My other favorite song has to be from the finale. Kudos for bringing back Zoey’s dad (Peter Gallagher) who came to her in a dream. It was a stunning moment of father/daughter love reaching across the universe as he sang I LIVED. Their dance together was my favorite. It also bookmarked the dance that Zoey did has with her Dad at the end of season 1.

Season 2 MVP:

Esta: My favorite characters are Max and Mo. Both of them continually push the storyline forward with their songs and advice. They are two very talented actors, who know how to allow a moment to breathe its way into your heart.

Aaron: I agree that both Max and Mo are fantastic along with the rest of the supporting cast taking it to another level. The show’s true MVP is and always will be Mandy Moore. The Emmy award-winning dance choreographer is the real reason to watch ZOEY’s every week.
