The power of Will.

WELCOME TO EARTH is a family-friendly version of PLANET EARTH. While David Attenborough’s narration is a tougher sell to young kids, Will Smith’s exploration of earth makes this series easy to get lost in.

There are six episodes total, allowing Will Smith to cross several expeditions off his bucket list. Each episode is based around – silence, darkness, scent, swarm, speed, and fear. Yet, the miracle is that somehow in the hands of producer Darren Aronofsky and the always likable Will Smith, WELCOME TO EARTH becomes so much more than watching a famous actor cross-off items on his bucket list. Instead, the show evolves into a fantastic documentary worth your family’s time, especially if you have a good TV and sound system.

Despite being a treat for audiences’ senses, what I enjoyed most about this series was watching my nine-year-old stepson immersed. It’s tough to get kids to watch something new, yet after twisting his arm to watch the premiere event last year, he wanted more. YES, this was a family opportunity not to watch MINECRAFT videos on YouTube and show him that the mysteries of the earth and learning can also be fun.

So a quick thank you to Will Smith. For pitching a show that involves the secrets of the world that adults and children can watch together in awe.

The first season is available on Disney+.
