WE LIVE IN TIME brought me to tears. It touched my soul and made me think about the thousands of “times” throughout my life. It made me realize again and again how it all can whoosh by within the blink of an eye. Thank you, writers, for reminding audiences that our memories are often randomly messy, but when remembered while joined together, they are the essence of who we are and what we did with our “time” allotted.
The film is a beautiful love story. It quickly takes audiences to the issues and sentiments everyone must deal with throughout their journeys. Grief, divorce, compromise, pleasure, lust, and love are superbly given a unique platform. The success of feeling every human emotion goes to Andrew Garfield as Tobias and Florence Pugh as Almut. Their chemistry was phenomenal. One look, one sigh, and one-touch spoke volumes without uttering a word. Their relationship felt raw and oh-so authentic. I think my screen was smoldering. I was swept away, especially during the montages and the actual distances filmed between the couple in several frames. Camera close-ups or panning out brought the audience deeper into their tightly woven circle.
