VIRGIN RIVER is a consistent, semi-predictable, interesting series. It has a multitude of loyal fans who expect nothing less. It makes its way meandering through numerous plots and character arcs with confidence. It ended season seven with four cliffhangers that will keep its viewers coming back again and again. For such a small, rural town, it always surprise me how much is going on behind closed doors. Season 7 definitely raised the intimate, sexy scenarios. Audiences can relax though, because the intimacy was always tastefully executed.
Jack and Mel are the cornerstone and Foundation for VIRGIN RIVER. It feels like the writers are teaching the public how to fall in love, stay in love, and nurture that love through everyday situations. Their stories are for the young in the old, but every moment gently comes back to the same, simple mantraโฆtogether we can get through anything. Even though life in VR is complicated, the sun will always rise and set along the stunning river and forest background. Is the dialogue simplistic and solvable? Of course, but this is why people love this show. It is pure escapism, yet, very realistic.
VIRGIN RIVER is surrounded by a large supporting cast. Who wouldnโt want to spend time in Jackโs Bar with Doc, Preacher, Brady, Hope, Lizzie, Muriel, Brie, Mike, Denny, Connie, Kaia and so many more. This series is definitely character driven along with the lush location shots. Some may consider it repetitive, but for me, this is the beauty and intrigue of the VIRGIN RIVER community. I know I will be patiently waiting to learn where their journeys and adventures take them next. VIRGIN RIVER is a sweet, slow-moving show that appeals to a particular pallet. I am glad I am included.
VIRGIN RIVER is streaming on Netflix.
