THE STAIRCASE showcased life in prison for Michael Pearson (Colin Firth). Since his case had such notoriety, Michael’s face and body were feeling the blunt force of his fellow inmates’ anger. It was not pretty.

This entire episode felt like filler. It barely moved the story forward. However, we did learn more about the behind-the-scenes aspect of the documentary created by the French independent filming company. Sophie (Juliette Binoche) also was brought more into the light. It was just a tough time for everyone, including what Michael’s children had to give to survive these prison years. Life is just not what they all thought it would be.

THE STAIRCASE-contains well-written and acted scenes. I have no complaints. I just want the plot to move along quicker.

It is available to stream on HBO/MAX.
