THE PATIENT is a poignant episode revolving around remembering and saying the KADDISH (the Jewish Mourner’s Prayer). It is meaningful because tonight is Yom Kippur, and Jews worldwide will be reciting this prayer many times throughout the next 24 hours.
Alan (Steve Carell) is still not focusing. He is lost in his illusions, depression, and a need to break free. Steve is amazing at displaying the past, but what to do about his current imprisonment is beyond his capability. The writers make this point repeatedly. I am ready for more action as well. In most series, you can tell where the writing leads the viewers. I am still in the dark, just like Alan is most of the time.
THE PATIENT offered much information and hinted at some foreshadowing. I am ready for more. I got it…now bring on either “the cavalry” or Kenny Chesney.
