I have waited two years for the return of THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL, and I am thrilled to say the first two episodes did not disappoint! What a joy to be able to laugh out loud once again.

The story began exactly where it left off and moved at lightning speed. This was one of the aspects I adore about this series. The characters enter, leave, return, and react with zest. The viewers have to stay on their toes just to keep up.

Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) and Susie (Alex Borstein) are a dream team. Their comedic timing is impeccable. They know exactly where and how to incorporate a breath, a sigh, an eye roll, a turn of the head, a raised eyebrow, or even a split second of silence just to create better, stronger laughs. Their unflappable friendship is what makes them so much fun to watch. Midge’s family are also gems. Abe (Tony Shalhoub), Rose (Marin Hinkle), Joel (Michael Zephan), Moishe (Kevin Pollack), and Zelda (Matilda Szydagis) are a match made in heaven. I will never look at a Ferris Wheel again without thinking of this crazy, hilarious family.

The first two episodes hit upon several themes worth mentioning.

  1. Revenge
  2. Money
  3. Gender equality
  4. “Be the best.”
  5. “It’s never just a hat.”
  6. “To art”

This is all I will say, except for how many emotions this list elicits. Be prepared for anyone popping in and anything that can happen.

THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL is what we have all been waiting for during this long, quiet quarantine. Bright colors, fabulous clothes, jokes and laughs, an insane family who know how to bicker and love. Welcome back. We missed you.

THE MARVELOUS MRS. MAISEL is available to stream on AMAZON PRIME.
