The latest PAM & TOMMY focuses entirely on Pam (Lily James) with mixed results. The lovable losers, Rand (Seth Rogen) and Uncle Miltie (Nick Offerman), are mysteriously MIA.
Despite the drum-like crescendo that plays in the background to raise the stakes, the intensity of the last four episodes is gone. Replacing the silliness is a new theme courtesy of Pam stating, “we’re programmed from birth to say no to men, but have to learn to say no.” At the surface, that message is meaningful. Yet captured in the show’s style, it doesn’t seem as sincere as it needs to make the audience care for her journey.
I hope that creator Robert Siegel can “Knock ’em Dead, Kid” and “Take me to the Top” next week. ๐ค I “Don’t Go Away Mad” after this limited series.
It’s available to stream on Hulu.
