MICHAEL CHE: SHOT IN MINNESOTA is a comedy special featuring the one and only Michael Che straight from the news desk on SNL. He holds no opinion back, nor is he apologetic for any topic he expounds upon. His timing and his material are fairly current and focus heavily on news stories, the political scene, sex, and dating, delivered with language and controversial banter only Che can facilitate. Fair warning⦠he is no conservative.
Che wrote and produced this one-hour journey into what goes on behind those huge, puppy-dog eyes. He likes to poke at establishment norms. His tone is bold, feisty, and sarcastic. I must admit Che is irreverent and feels like he is delivering some racial slurs. Again, no apologies are offered. His pacing is fast, delving from subject to subject. Che obviously enjoys what he is saying because he will often break out into giggles and out-loud laughter. He continually has a twinkle in his eye as if he is daring the audience to try to stop his routine. He nails his final joke, pulling it all full circle.
MICHAEL CHE: SHOT IN MINNESOTA is indeed not for everyone. Did I enjoy it? Letβs just say I didnβt stop watching. His schtick is mesmerizing, and the special is streaming on Netflix.
