THE GILDED AGE hit this episode right out of the ballpark. There was intrigue, lust, disappointment, a reveal, a race against time, jealousy, and triumph.

The entire segment hinged upon all the confusing pieces of this vast storyline to come together and finally make sense. It was exciting and visually breathtaking with the many costumes at the ball. It made me almost want to wear a bustle…almost.

It was obvious that New York’s old-money could not “keep out new money forever, or else a new society would be formed.” History tends to repeat itself. Lessons must be learned, and often “love is not enough.”

THE GILDED AGE has one episode left. The series has proven New York “is a great city, in a great country, in a great time.”

It is available to stream on HBO Max.
