It centers on a vibrant young couple who move to THE BURBS and get caught up in the disappearance of a childhood friend amid surrounding secrets, deaths, shenanigans, and cover-ups.ย It is a fast-talking, lightning-paced series that stars Keke Palmer. Her energy, curiosity, and imagination never stop. It is fun escapism, as long as viewers just go along with each hare-brained scheme to get to the truth in every episode.ย
Keke plays Samira, a newlywed and new mother. Her other half, Rob, (Jack Whitehall) is a sweet, silly, loving husband. The duo is tied to Robโs best friend, Naveen, and hilariously attached to several strange neighbors, Dana, Lynn, and Tod. In between all the happy hours and bottles of wine consumed is where the crazy chase begins and quickly gets complicated. The writers must be having a grand time while creating this chaotic, crazy chase to the finish. I love Kekeโs insanity, dance moves, and big, expressive yes. Her character is larger than life and is the heart of this series.ย
THE BURBS doesnโt entice me to move out of the city, but it does add such delight and entertainment to the bonds of neighborly friendships while taking advantage of close-by babysitters. It is truly one thing after another as the twenty-year-old mystery keeps on unraveling. It ended with a major cliffhanger, so I am betting it will return for season 2. I got hooked pretty quickly, and I desperately need to find out where it will all end, as long as there will be more basement digs, bunkers, and dark forests to explore.ย
