THE BOYS is back, premiering with the first two episodes of its final season. This series is based on the Dynamite Entertainment comic book written by Garth Ennis and Derick Robertson. These writers and about a dozen others promise to bring the satirical story of superpowers getting out of hand, while immersing themselves deep within the whims of society, to an exciting conclusion.ย
Each episode was totally different. One was as bloody and gory as a terror-filled adventure with ICABOD CRANE AND THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN. Brutal, excessive force was the theme, along with crocodile tears. It was supe fun, and delivered with panache.ย
The second episode wasnโt quite as messy with red, violent stains exploding across my screen. Even though it was more talky, it still included rock-gutting, sad, penis-perversive images that are impossible to erase from my brain. My advice is donโt watch this installment before you turn in for the night.
Homelander (Anthony Starr) was as brutal and narcissistic as always. Actually, the entire gang delivered in spades. Butcher, Hughie, Starlight, A-Train, Frenchie, Soldier Boy, Sage, Milk, and Kimiko were atrociously phenomenal. They have created characters that lift right off the written page before our very eyes. It is truly a dream cast of people you hope to never meet in a darkened alley.ย
THE BOYS is an acquired taste. It is not for the faint of heart. I canโt wait to see how this all ends.
Be sure to catch it on Prime Video.ย
