S1 E7 THE BOY FROM 6B
“People talk way too much.”
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING this week is told from Theo’s point of view, and since he is deaf, there is no need to turn up the sound. It is creative, cunning, and one-of-a-kind.
Theo (James Caverly) is Teddy’s son, (Nathan Lane). He is a “wannabe” of the Hardy Boys, and his life is turned upside down as a result. There were so many reveals in this episode. Loose threads were found and put in place. Don’t ask…I won’t tell, but holy crap, what a sweet ride to the truth.
I have to say kudos to the editors. I will never be able to look at a scrabble board without thinking of Steve Martin (Charles) and Amy Ryan (Jan) again. Let’s hear it for small, potent words. The timing, the pacing, the facial and physical action heated up throughout. And did I mention, Martin Short (Oliver) and Selena Gomez (Mabel)? It was a laugh-out-loud moment just by leaning over their chairs at the mortuary.
I also have to bring up the music chosen to highlight the silence. It was haunting and lyrical all at the same time. It added so much to each deafening, quiet second of screen time.
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING ended with yet another, cliff hanger. Oh my heart, be still. I am counting the days until we find out more. This show is easily one of my all time faves. It has it all, murder, mayhem, a podcast, comic relief, and now, sex. Who could ask for anything more?
ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING is available to stream on HULU.
