MURDER AMONG THE MORMONS is a docudrama covering three bombings in Salt Lake City in 1985. This three part series uses current and old interviews of those involved and documents essential to the investigations.
The background and story were fascinating. It involved not only the murder of two people and severe injuries to a third person, but also it uncovered a sinister plot of forgeries that rocked the foundation of the Mormon religion. Mark Hofmann was at the center of this diabolical scheme that nearly succeeded.
The only problem with this series is I wanted more. There were many moments of repetition. The re-enactments were believable, but I needed to know more about โwhyโ this whole incident occurred and how the church handled it after.
These bombings and the subsequent revelations about major forgeries within the doctrines of the Mormon church should have been explored further. Did they have a ripple effect among their congregation? Did some followers of the Mormon religion lose faith over their leaders who were supremely duped? None of this was really discussed. For me, it was a missed opportunity to learn and understand more about others. Instead, it was swept away probably in a dark corner of the Temple.
MURDER AMONG THE MORMONS is available to stream on Netflix.
