LEGENDS S1 REVIEW 🤩

LEGENDS is based on true events when British customs agents go undercover to infiltrate major, dangerous drug gangs during the 60’s. It is a finely crafted series that treats viewers like grown-ups as it pulls everyone down the gangster rabbit hole.

The war against drugs was real then and obviously still ongoing today. It was nearly impossible to secure adequate funding for such important operations. Not many would stand up against powerful men for so little pay and with no guarantee they could return to their previous lives. What made this so fascinating was that it was all true.  Never before has this emotional roller coaster been told. I am in awe of the risks they took throughout many life-threatening scenarios. Bravo.

At the core of LEGENDS is the casting.  Each character was believable and felt realistic. Kudos to Tom Burke, Steve Coogan, Hailey Squires, Ami Ameen, Jasmine Blackbrow, and Tom  Hughes.

The pacing and cinematography were splendid, guiding audiences into the shadowy side of the streets and across other countries to make a big deal with a huge pay-off. Each backstory made audiences care about who would survive. It was straightforward and honestly shared. The story content was enough. It never once needed to be built up into something it wasn’t. This compelled me through six episodes very quickly.

It is said that LEGENDS are the characters you become when working undercover, and that once a LEGEND, always a LEGEND because “LEGENDS don’t die.” I can easily understand this. Their story will not be forgotten.

LEGENDS is streaming on Netflix.
