The latest film from Miranda July delivers more of the same offbeat comedy previously seen in her 2005 feature, ME AND YOU AND EVERYONE WE KNOW. It’s a joy watching the scams in the first half of the film that this down on their luck family tries to achieve. Think of it like a cross between OCEAN’S 11 caper, Wes Anderson flair and a 90s indie feature. Unfortunately, the second half gets stuck in its own suds, failing to develop a full story arc for the lead character, Old Dolio (Evan Rachel Wood).
Come for the quiet moments that explore this dysfunctional family and go back to watch ME AND YOU to enjoy the birth of the famous emoji: ))<>((
It is available on all VOD services.
