JULIA centered around the huge Life Magazine article and all the repercussions of accepting oneself. There were many who became influenced by JULIA’s bravado. She changed lives and often was unaware of her inner power and how that affected those she loved.
It was an intense episode due to David Hyde Pierce. He took on a dual role as not only Paul, JULIA’s husband but as his “older” twin brother. Their personalities were complete opposites, allowing David to create a crazy character. There were poignant, bittersweet, joyful moments of them together on screen. The best one was at the piano, singing and playing. Great editing. The audience was treated to an inside view of David’s acting chops.
I must mention Bebe Neuwirthh as well. The writers gave her unforgettable moments as her love life was awakened. She reminded me of my teenage years. It was fun to watch.
JULIA did not open all doors for women. It was a difficult time for equality, but she drew attention to the cause, which was a starting point. It was an eye-opener for all types of women wherever they were along their journeys.
JULIA is available on Max.
