HOME ECONOMICS this past week was all about presumptions. What we think to be true about others is not often the case in reality, and it can be a humbling lesson to learn.
Denise (Sasheer Zamata) was afraid her daughter had forgotten her Hispanic heritage. She wanted acknowledgment of the rich language and songs she learned as a younger child. Denise and Tom (Topher Grace) have to take a step back and watch how their daughter feels.
The other big plotline involved Sarah (Caitlin McGee) applying for a counselor job at Windmount Acadamy. This is the very ritzy school Connorโs (Jimmy Tatro) daughter attends. How easy it is to assume that all rich kids lead a charmed life and how Sarah could make a difference.
HOME ECONOMICS offered us subtlety and mild humor. It was simple moments that kept things small and realistic. Although it was an okay episode, I look forward to where this sitcom shines with broader, louder comedy.
HOME ECONOMICS is available to stream on ABC.
