HACKS S2E1-2 🤩

Season 2 of HACKS picks up right where it left off. Both Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) are feeling tons of angst, a lack of self-confidence, hesitancy, and confusion.

Deborah is determined to take her “schtick” on the road, and Ava is guilt-ridden for her actions while drunk. How these two work it out is the thrust of the first two episodes. And even just as important, how it affects the entire, creative team is humorously explored. Oh Jimmy (Paul W. Downs), you are so screwed.

HACKS has not lost its biting edge between these two women. The writers are giving them freedom to grow within their friendship/work boundaries. Deborah’s caustic, sarcastic attitude is evident in every scene. She does not fail to “bring it on” especially during a boxing, cage fight. (When you are a Vance, you don’t quit!)

I am still a huge fan of a series that highlights the “give and take, push or pull” moments of friendship between women. Not all men understand the emotional highs and lows women are privy to experience. Thank goodness for Ava and Deborah. I recommend taking notes gentlemen. “It’s going to be a bumpy ride.”

HACKS is available to stream on HBO/MAX.
