DEXTER RESURRECTION S1E6 CATS AND MOUSE 😊

Even when DEXTER is at its worst, the series is still worth watching. There are several predictable plot mechanisms this week that will have audiences shaking their heads (really, using a kid with asthma?!?!). Still, none of that matters since Michael C. Hall is so damn good as the titular character. His dark passenger charm easily washes down a bad episode and makes it mildly entertaining.

The original DEXTER lost its way when it spent too much time focusing on the lesser characters – I’m looking at any episode that involved Quinn. RESURRECTION has a similar problem this week, giving far too much airtime to Kamara (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine – who was fantastic in SMOKE) and Elsa’s son, Dante (Delgado).

I don’t think it’s time to put a “fork” in DEXTER and call it done. I see him and his generational trauma (father and son) leaning to tie a tie and try new things. Here’s hoping those new things don’t take Dexter too far away from what he does best – killing.

It’s available to stream on Paramount+.
