DEXTER: NEW BLOOD was one of the most intense, horrific series of the year. It was a slow burn at the beginning that ended up taking your breath away at a very unexpected finale.

The success of this murderous show is due to its lead, Dexter (Michael C. Hall). He has a way of looking at you with total innocence after just chopping up yet another victim. Michael has total command of his character, which is why everyone playing off of him works so brilliantly. He is a consummate actor in all the most subtle ways. He is the glue that holds this production together.

The entire ensemble gave us memorable moments as well. Using the wintry backdrop of snow and ice from upstate New York added to the droplets and pools of blood smeared along the way. The DEXTER theme music, played at just the right second, made the hairs on my arm stand on edge. The writers did not hold back and went wherever the story took them. Eerie…quirky…nightmarish.

I have said this before, and I am saying it again, DEXTER: NEW BLOOD is must-see tv. If you enjoy the unexpected and want to endure scary, frightful scenes, then this is meant for you.

It is available to stream on SHOWTIME.
