DEXTER: RESURRECTION premiered the first installment of its ten-week episodic series. It was a near perfect bullseye welcoming back the quirky cast of killers, cops, and everyone else in between. Even while Michael C. Hall as Dexter pondered the possibility of a mid-life crisis, he still thrilled his fans as their most favorite serial killer vigilante. The writers allowed our dark passenger to be even more human and flawed. The sarcastic banter between Dexter and Harry (James Remar) gave vague hints as to where Dexter could be headed, along with ominous foreshadowing of STAYING ALIVE. It was brilliantly created to reintroduce all the necessary players without a forced recap. It was creepy, violent, and oh, so satisfying.
Dexter is an acquired taste. He has set high standards as he manipulates through The Code set many seasons ago. Characters have come and gone, but Dexter still stands as a force to be reckoned with. Hall personifies every breath of Dexter’s inner, evil hobby. He is a master of taking extra breaths, projecting long, cold stares at those around him and then merely raising an eyebrow promising more terror and mayhem to follow. Hall plays his part with subtle innocence and benevolent terrorizing, thrilling chaos. Add into the mix Harrison (Jack Alcott) and Dexter is sure to devilishly delight audiences of all ages. Bring it on. I can’t wait.
DEXTER: RESURRECTION was exciting, murderous entertainment. I am hooked especially every time those eerie, stringy, musical notes commence. It never fails to remind me this dark comedy-horror series is about to get very bloody. Don’t miss it while it’s streaming on Paramount+.
