BOSS LEVEL 🤮

Director Joe SMOKIN ACES / A-TEAM Carnahan knows his way around violent movies and BOSS LEVEL does not disappoint in that department. But after one too many game over screens, I did not want to insert more quarters to continue.

This GROUNDHOG DAY video game rip-off stars Frank Grillo as the hero who is forced to relive the same day over and over. The twist is he is being chased by crazy assassins. The lackluster script gets stuck on the loading screen, giving little to do for the three charismatic leads (Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts and Grillo). Instead it settles for lame voice overs and a meandering plot built around the time loop mechanism.

Even though I am not a fan of Gibson’s personal life, I did enjoy seeing him on the screen in his brief cameo. He plays the bad guy chomping on a cigar stating B movie lines like, “Nobody notices the house fly until he f*cks up a good bowl of soup.”

Do yourself a favor and skip BOSS LEVEL on Hulu and re-watch season 1 of FUTURE MAN instead.
