“A perfect Christmas” sequel may be “all that parents want,” but they will have to settle for an imperfect one instead. I nearly gave this film a 🤮 , but after conversations with Mike, he convinced me that it has just enough ♥️ to make it worth your time.
The challenge with A CHRISTMAS STORY CHRISTMAS is age. Not all classic films that my generation grew up with need a sequel.
A CHRISTMAS STORY CHRISTMAS is good enough, with lowered expectations and maybe a little spiked egg nog. This is due to a slow-moving first half that fails to set the protagonist, Ralphie (Peter Billingsley), on his hero’s quest efficiently. Yet, it does stick the landing while paying homage to the classic first film with a tender tribute to fathers.
