THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING 🤮

I wanted to love and adore THE PEOPLE WE HATE AT THE WEDDING, but it just was not possible. Predictable and filled with not funny familiar “schticks” comes to mind first.

It is a shame because this film is star-studded with Ben Platt, Allison Janney, Kristen Bell, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, and Randall Park. It was fast-paced and had some creative one-liners within the family dynamics. “We will always have Paddington.” “Sometimes a hug is worse than a slap.” You had to be there…or not.

The movie failed to give us honest bantering among the siblings. I felt like it was a continuous roller coaster of trying to “one-up” each other. This can get old very quickly if there is not enough substance in the foundation. Finding the “why’s” behind the anger took a long time. Too little too late. The pay-off needed to be bigger. I also did not enjoy Ben’s character, Paul, who was always crying. “Boo-hooing” is not a good look.

THE PEOPLE WE LOVE TO HATE AT THE WEDDING is not the best title. They did explain the meaning, but I just wasn’t impressed. Several great movies are opening this holiday season.. this one isn’t one of them.

THE PEOPLE WE LOVE TO HATE AT THE WEDDING is available to stream on AMAZON PRIME.
