THE PRINCESS is an intimate, intense documentary about the life of Princess Diana. It does not offer any new facts. Instead, it factually covers a woman who was beloved and left the world far too soon.
When he and Diana were dating, Charles said that “he had to marry someone who will one day become queen, so she has to be pretty special.” Indeed, she was. Watching all the hundreds of clips and photos reminded me of how breathtaking and exquisite she was. Her eyes could pierce the soul of anyone around her. She was simply stunning. I also noticed how naive and young she was. Diana was described as “sweet, kind, and a virgin.” THE PRINCESS said at her engagement, “I can’t go wrong if Charles is there.”
THE PRINCESS was an honest depiction of a flawed woman. She was not perfect in her marriage. Nor was Her husband, Charles. In retrospect, they should not have ever married. But they did, and history will judge the adultery, the bulimia, the paparazzi, and the monarchy in due time. This film was well-done. The pacing was spot-on and gave the viewers enough time to absorb all the incidents, quotes, and conversations. The show drew no conclusions. This is let to those who loved THE PRINCESS. It is worth your time, especially if you are a Lady Diana fan.
THE PRINCESS is available to stream on HBO MAX.
