The BEST OF THE BEST is a loud, frenzy-paced film that shows the fierce competition among collegiate Bollywood dance competitions. The story centers around two besties and their journey to discover their paths, both as friends and as Individuals. This movie was heavy on the dance sequences and much lighter on the actual story content. It was another coming-of-age film with a different twist.
Maya and Anjali learn very quickly what a cut-throat world the BEST OF THE BEST
Championship really is and what it takes for a team to qualify for this honor. College classes became a second or third priority behind rehearsing, boys, and parties. Was it realistic? I hope not, but the dance production numbers were crazy and entertaining to watch. I liked the female friendship plot line even more. It had more depth and angst. Wish there had more of those types of scenes to fill in the spotty holes, but then there wouldn’t have been as much time to dance. There really wasn’t t much balance.
BEST OF THE BEST is simply not. It is however a semi-light hearted movie that is predictable yet, has fun moments to watch, especially, if Bollywood is your thing.
