THE PATIENT had a slower, informative, laid-back episode this week. Fillers are necessary, I know. It lulled me into the humdrum of therapy. Then POW… Sam is for real.
Alan (Steve Carell) and Sam (Domhnall Gleeson) make such a dynamic pair. Their timing is exquisite. The writers are keeping the viewers at arm’s length. They are taking their time building this series’ creepy, visceral, raw, revealing mental health sessions. It is working.
Watching THE PATIENT upsets me. I want my action a little faster. I didn’t know where this was all heading, but it was crystal clear after the final moments. I want to scream…get out now! But, I fear no one is listening. This has all the makings of ending badly. I am hooked.
