I know, that’s a bold statement. And, it’s worth noting that SCHITT’S CREEK took nearly two seasons before the Roses grew a heart. It wasn’t until S2E13 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY that audiences started to care for them. Up until that point, it was a cliched situational comedy that audiences had seen before.
THE OTHER TWO follows a similar path, but instead of focusing on a family going from fame to shame, it’s in reverse. We track the Dubek family, who are awful, going from shame to fame. The family has the under-achieving sister, Brook (Heléne Yorke), the self-obsessed gay brother, Cary (Drew Tarver), the newly famous younger brother Chase (Case Walker), and the fame-seeking mom, Pat (Molly Shannon). Yet, just like the end of S2 of SCHITT’S CREEK, they all start to change for the better in their unique ways.Â
THE OTHER TWO also has a lot of 30 ROCK/SNL style humor. It’s shocking how good this show can be at mocking celebrities/internet culture while also seeing characters learn how to grow.

It’s not often that a show can be this relevant, funny, and overlooked. So, I encourage audiences to have a bottle of wine, sorry, three glasses per Brook, and binge it on HBO Max. The first season might be hit or miss, yet the second season “Chases Dreams,” to become must-see TV.
