We didn’t love THE AFTERPARTY season two, but it’s barely good enough to attend.
E1 ANIQ 2: THE SEQUEL 😊
“THE AFTERPARTY works best when it doesn’t take itself seriously. And the first episode had me smiling the entire time.“
– Aaron
E2 GRACE 🤮
“GRACE was as lifeless as trying to make a lizard your pet.“
– Aaron
E3 TRAVIS 😊
“The third episode this season takes the style of a hard-boiled neo-noir mystery. If you’re unfamiliar with the genre, perhaps you’ve heard of THE MALTESE FALCON (1941) or DOUBLE INDEMNITY (1944). This is a genre I enjoy and respect immensely. While some attempts to recreate it have been great (MEMENTO, BRICK, NIGHTCRAWLER), unfortunately, THE AFTER PARTY isn’t one of them.“
– Jami
E4 HANNAH 😊
“I will continue watching THE AFTER PARTY. I am hopeful the writers will add something really profound in the near future. The cast could be even zanier. It’s summer. I am craving the absurd. And…“scene.”
– Esta
E5 SEBASTIAN 😊
“This week’s episode of THE AFTERPARTY takes audiences on a spoof of the heist genre. Think OCEAN’S 11 with less wit. While it’s not the “Connect Four” it strives to be, it’s a solid imitation that’s easily one of the best this season, which isn’t saying much.
– Aaron
E6 DANNER’S FIRE 🤮
“Last season, THE AFTERPARTY took a 1-episode break from delving into the lives of the possible murder suspects in E7, DANNER. Danner refers to star Tiffany Haddish, the detective who works with Aniq (Sam Richardson) to root out the killer in this series. DANNER’S FIRE is the S2 equivalent/sequel to this but it’s so much worse than its predecessor.“
– Jami
E7 ULYSSES 🤩
“THE AFTERPARTY showcased an epic romance story through the look and feel of THE LEGENDS OF THE FALL. And in so doing, it gave viewers the best episode of the season.”
– Esta
E8 FENG 😊
“THE AFTERPARTY focuses on Feng (Ken Jeong) this week and fills his backstory with mediocre success. At this stage of the game, it’s clear that the show is more concerned with trying to spoof various genres than telling a compelling and funny story.“
– Aaron
E10 VIVIAN AND ZOE 😊
“THE AFTERPARTY ended in a fun, entertaining way. I just wish the entire season hadn’t gotten so bogged down with highs and lows. This talented group of actors deserved more consistency.“
– Esta
The second season is available on Apple TV+.
