SURFACE ended its season with a surprising storyline and a cliffhanger. Interesting, because it was not renewed for next year. I guess I will have to read the book it’s based upon to find out what happens.ย
Sophie (Gugu Mbatga-Raw) had it all planned out at the end. This was a twist I did not see coming. She was much stronger than she led anyone to believe. Gugu is a powerful, beautiful actress who was the creative strength behind this series.ย I believed everything she said and did in the end. I did not have much empathy for James (Oliverย ย Jackson-Cohen). Karma can be a bitch.ย
I have been thinking about the title, SURFACE. It was obvious that nothing on the surface was as it appeared to be. In order to see the entire truth of one’s life, it is imperative to dive beneath that top, flat, one-dimensional layer. Below the SURFACE is where everything comes together…good or bad.ย
